MMRI Welcomes New Scholars

Visting Scholars Martina Pierdomenico and Michela Ingrassia

In July the MMRI welcomed Martina Pierdomenico and Michela Ingrassia its latest visiting scholars from the University of Rome, Italy. Michela and Martina both hold Bachelor of Science degrees in Natural Science and both are pursuing Master of Science degrees from the University of Rome in Marine Science. Michela's work will focus on the benthic macro-fauna at the MMRI's seafloor observatory site in the Gulf of Mexico. Martina's work will focus on the geomorphology and fauna at the head of the Hudson Canyon. She will later work with NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center in New Jersey to more fully develop the biological aspects of her thesis work. The MMRI's Leo Macelloni, is guiding both scholars in their academic endeavors.
